Courses Overview

What will I learn?
The Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledge is provides an opportunity for students to engage with concepts and professional practices based on an understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems. The units are designed to privilege and advance the exploration and practical application of knowledge is from the rich cultural traditions and contemporary social experiences of Indigenous peoples in Australia.
The course promotes the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (and those who work with them) to act as advocates for and empower people and communities in their aspirations for cultural maintenance and for equitable participation in contemporary Australian social, cultural and economic life.
With a focus upon ensuring graduates demonstrate an ability to apply what they learn in a culturally informed and respectful manner, students have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that are useful for work in with:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organizations and communities;
Government departments and agencies; or
Private enterprises that are involved in Indigenous affairs
Course Structure
The course requires the successful completion of 80 credit points of study drawn from units offered in the proposed Bachelor of Applied Social Science. Twenty (20) credit points of Common Units and forty (40) credit points of core units provide an orientation and firm basis for developing critical understandings across key areas of study. Twenty (20) credit points of Specialist Elective units allow students to diversify their study and provide an opportunity to focus on specific emerging areas of interest.
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 80 credit points (cp). All units are valued at 10 credit points unless indicated.

Entry Requirement From Vietnam

Applicants must have the SAT score of 1370. Other English Language Requirements accepted: Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 57 with no score subtest score less than 50; Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) score of 52 - 57; TOEFL paper based test 525 min of 4 in TWE. Additional requirements: Applicants with ATAR of 90 or above are also eligible


Entry Requirement For International Student

Applicants must hold a qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12.
Other English Language Requirements:
Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) minimum overall score of 165; Navitas Academic English - an overall pass of 60% in Academic English 2; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module minimum overall score of 42 with no less than 36 in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
