Courses Overview

What will I learn?
The Diploma of Computing consists of Deakin University's first year degree units and provides you with the foundation for further study in areas of Computer Science, Games Design and Development, IT Security and Information Technology.
Course structure
Eight units must be completed and passed to be awarded the Diploma.
Teaching Methods
Instruction for all units is classroom based. Generally, four hours of class contact per week are allocated to each unit. Some units have additional laboratory hours/practical classes.
Assessment for all units is ongoing and continuous consisting of tests, assignments and case study analysis. Most units have a final two-hour examination.

Entry Requirement From Vietnam

For admission into most postgraduate courses, you are required to hold a recognized bachelor's degree equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree. Your academic performance at the bachelor's level will be considered as part of your application assessment. In some instances, you may also require relevant work experience and/or research experience. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 overall, writing 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) - 79-93 overall, writing 21; PTE (Academic) - 58-64; CAE - 176-184; AE5/AE6 (PASS) - AE5.

Entry to Diploma courses requires the successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent.
Other English Language requirements: Cambridge: English Advanced (CAE) - FCE Level B2, Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI) - EAP 2, GCE O-level - C6, HK Form 5 - 60% in Form 5 English Language, HKDSE - Level 3 HKDSE English, IELTS - Foundation program (Standard): 5.5 (with no band score below 5), Diploma: 5.5 (with no band score below 5.5), Pearsons Test of English Academic (PTE) - 42-49, SPM English - C4, TOEFL Computer Based - 196, TOEFL Paper Based - 525, TOELF IBT: 69-70.
