What will I learn?
The Diploma of Media and Communications consists of Deakin University's first year degree units and provides you with a pathway to second year of the relevant Bachelor degrees at Deakin. Areas include animation, film studies, journalism, media and communication, photography and public relations.
Eight units must be completed and passed to be awarded the Diploma.
Instruction for all units is classroom based. Generally, four hours of class contact per week are allocated to each unit. Some units have additional laboratory hours/practical classes.
Assessment for all units is ongoing and continuous consisting of tests, assignments and case study analysis. Most units have a final two-hour examination.

For admission into most postgraduate courses, you are required to hold a recognized bachelor's degree equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree. Your academic performance at the bachelor's level will be considered as part of your application assessment. In some instances, you may also require relevant work experience and/or research experience. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 overall, writing 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) - 79-93 overall, writing 21; PTE (Academic) - 58-64; CAE - 176-184; AE5/AE6 (PASS) - AE5.
Entry to Diploma courses requires the successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent.
