What will I learn?
This course is designed to graduate early childhood educators who are competent, skilled practitioners ready to work in a range of settings with children from birth to age eight, their families and communities.
A key feature of this course is the emphasis given to connecting theory with practice so that graduates will be proficient in developing effective early childhood educational programs that are informed by current research, policy and practice.
Partnerships with over 650 schools and numerous Children is Services settings allow pre-service teachers to gain experience in diverse settings, including public, private, metropolitan, regional and remote contexts working with children, families and communities.
In addition, a distinguishing feature of this course is that pre-service teachers have the opportunity in the fourth year of their course to specialise and broaden their knowledge and skills in an area of interest. Units are also available in the degree that enables pre-service teachers to complete accreditation requirements to teach in Catholic schools.
This course is dedicated to producing quality graduates ready to take up employment across the early childhood education sector, including teaching children aged 0-3 years, kindergarten, pre-primary and years 1-3 in a primary school.

Applicants must have obtained minimum of 24 points (minimum of 28 points for Law) consisting of aggregate from 3 higher level and 3 subsidiary level. English Language Requirements accepted: Academic IELTS: An overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band less than 6.0; TOEFL: Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better; TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17; GCE O Levels: Grade C or better; PTE Academic: PTE Academic 52, with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement; University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Pre-2015: A score between 52 - 57 with no less than 'Borderline' in any element of the test. Post-2015: An overall score of 169, with no individual band less than 169; or a minimum TOEFL score of 550 including TWE of 5.
There are various ways to meet our admission requirements, such as Secondary school results, Successful completion of one year of tertiary study from a recognised institution, Completed Diploma program from a recognised institution.
English Minimum Requirements
Academic IELTS with an average level of 7.5 or more, across the four components of listening, speaking, reading and writing; no score below level 7.0 in any of these components; and, a score of 8.0 or more in the components of speaking and listening.
TOEFL iBT: 70 (no individual score less than 17)
GCE O Level: Grade C or better from specific countries as detailed in ECU is English Policy
GCE A Level: Grade E or better from specific countries as detailed in ECU is English Policy
Pearson Test of English (PTE): 57 with no score less than 50 for IELTS 6.0 courses. 64, with no score less than 58 for IELTS 6.5 courses.
OET: A minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, speaking and writing).
