Courses Overview

What will I learn?
Mechanical engineers design and construct the large and small devices which enable rapid and convenient transportation, cost effective manufacturing processes and quality fabrication. Specific areas include mechatronics, robotics, biomechanical applications, aero planes, cars, pumps and pipelines.
Special attention is paid to vibration analysis, machine design and manufacturing systems as applied to aggressive tropical environments, which makes graduates well valued.
Emphasis is placed on learning through project work and students are further exposed to current engineering practices in guest lectures by practicing engineers and site visits.
CDU engineering courses were developed in consultation with industry representatives. Students graduate with a sound foundation of engineering learning as well as the advantage of an education that is directly aligned with industry requirements.
Professional Recognition
This program meets the requirements for accreditation by Engineers Australia at the level of professional engineer.
This program meets the requirements for accreditation by EUR-ACE Label, second cycle.
Course Structure
The course consists of core engineering units, specialist engineering units in Mechanical Engineering two thesis units and two system design units. This course is available externally by distance learning for those who are not able to attend classes on campus on a regular basis. Access to the internet is required for distance learning, with access to high speed broadband highly recommended. Selected units will require attendance on campus during the mid-semester study period.
A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 160 credit points (cp) as. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless indicated.
