What will I learn?
The Bachelor of Education (Graduate Entry) is a teacher education course that aligns with the national standards for teacher qualification. This two-year course offers specialized professional knowledge and skills in teacher education for those who have a non-education Bachelor degree.
The program is designed to develop professional knowledge and skills to prepare students for new and changing educational roles as educators; to develop reflective practitioner skills; to ensure continuing awareness of the environmental and cultural influences on teaching and learning, and to better understand the needs of learners and communities with diverse linguistic and cultural orientations, including Indigenous learners. Applicants can apply for one of three educational streams: early childhood and primary teaching, primary teaching and secondary teaching. The early childhood and primary teaching stream has an early childhood focus yet is designed to allow gradients the flexibility for teaching in either early childhood or primary school settings.
This course will also be suited to those who are seeking to upgrade their teaching qualifications in early childhood, primary or secondary school teaching.
Course Structure
The Bachelor of Education (Graduate Entry) is designed to develop professional knowledge and skills and prepare for new and changing educational roles as teachers and educators. This flexible degree provides a choice in any of one of the three educational streams for early childhood and primary teaching, primary teaching and secondary teaching. The early childhood and primary teaching stream has an early childhood focus yet is designed to allow gradients the flexibility for teaching in either early childhood or primary.
The course includes theory and practice with students having supervised professional experience in schools/learning sites from the first semester in the first year. There are three professional experience blocks that require full-time commitment in each year of the course. The course can be completed by fully external study (online) or in a blend of online and internal formats. There is a high level of online study and interaction for all students. A candidate must successfully complete units totaling 160 credit points. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.
Professional Recognition
This course has been accredited through the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory consistent with the standards established by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership for the Accreditation of Initial Teacher Education Programs in Australia.
The Early Childhood and Primary stream in this program is approved with the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
Graduates of the course will be eligible for registration to teach in schools across all Australian State and Territory jurisdictions (subject to meeting other eligibility criteria such as the National Literacy and Numeracy test for Initial Teacher Education aligned with Teacher Registration Requirement, English proficiency and suitability to teach).

Entry Requirement From Vietnam

Applicants must have minimum average of 80% in 4 core academic subjects. Other English Language Requirements accepted: Cambridge Advanced English (CAE)A minimum overall score of 169 with no skill below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module score of 50 with no score lower than 42.


Entry Requirement For International Student

Early Childhood and Primary Teaching
Successful completion of a recognized Bachelor degree or equivalent in either early childhood, primary or an area relevant to early childhood/primary curriculum, such as art, music, design and technology, English, health and physical education, mathematics, science or humanities and social sciences (e.g. history and geography).
Primary Teaching
Successful completion of a recognized Bachelor degree or equivalent with at least one year equivalent full time in an area relevant to primary curriculum, such as art, music, design and technology, English, health and physical education, mathematics, science or humanities and social sciences (e.g. history and geography).
Secondary Teaching
Successful completion of a recognized Bachelor degree or equivalent comprising of a major sequence and minor a sequence in two of the following secondary teaching areas: English, legal studies, Indigenous studies, accounting, business studies, economics, geography, history, mathematics, languages (Mandarin, Greek, Indonesian), music, information technology, visual arts, chemistry, biology/ecology, environmental science, health and physical education.
A major sequence is defined as one quarter of a three-year degree and a minor sequence is defined as one sixth of a three-year degree.
Other English Language Requirements:
Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) minimum overall score of 176 with no skill below 169; Common European Framework Certificate of English Proficiency minimum overall grade of B2; Navitas Academic English - A minimum overall pass of 55% in Academic English 3; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module minimum overall score of 50 with no score lower than 50.
