What will I learn?
This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required for employment as a Higher Engineering Tradesperson or a Special Class Engineering Tradesperson - Level II within the metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries. You will learn joining techniques and gain skills in design, assembly, and fabrication of structures. The course will also give you valuable skills in teamwork and communication. Graduates can find work in mineral exploration and mining, oil and gas drilling, or work in the manufacture of heavy machinery and building construction products.
The minimum requirements for achievement of the Certificate IV in Engineering are:
Completion of all core units of competency, and
Completion of units from the Group A Specialization electives listed below to the value of at least 12 points, and
Completion of Group B electives listed below to bring the total value to at least 109 points.

Applicants must have High School Graduation Diploma and a SAT Reasoning Test score of 500 in each of the three test sections of Critical Reading; Maths; and Writing. Other English Language Requirements accepted: : TOEFL (Paper Based Test): TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test,or a PTE Academic: Minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50 or Completion of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at UNE ELC.
Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.
Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age.
English Language Requirements:
They must satisfy the following requirements such as 5.5 on IELTS with no individual score less than 5.0; Successful completion of 12 weeks TAFE Queensland English Language Program (TQELP) with results certified to course entry level; TOEFL: 69 (internet based test), 530 (paper based test), 197 (computer based test); ISLPR: 2+ on 4 skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking; First Cambridge Certificate of English, C Grade Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English; Successful completion of a vocational course of Australian Qualifications Framework Level 3 or higher, in which the medium of instruction is English; Sound achievement, or equivalent, Year 12 Board English in an Australian School; Successful completion on TQELP English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
