Strengthen community connections
Are you passionate about issues impacting the community and working to improve community living for all groups of people? Interested in learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history and perspectives in contemporary society?
This program is delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff at USQ to enable students to develop the ability to work with and within Indigenous communities in culturally appropriate and effective ways. Throughout the Community Development and Indigenous Studies major, you will be challenged to critically analyze and debate contemporary issues that affect communities, such as:
ethics and social welfare
environment
gender and racial equality
social justice, and
the Law.
The Honours component of this degree involves completing a research project on a topic of choice under the supervision of a staff member. The Honours program can also provide further exposure and industry experience, preparing you for an exciting career in the human services industry.
Career outcomes
Graduates can work as community development officers or human service professionals in government and community settings, social care institutions, or organizations that design and offer programs and services to Indigenous communities.

Entry Requirement From Vietnam

Students must have a recognized previous academic qualification. These qualifications are for standard entry and are based on comparisons with Australian year 12 level examinations. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) - 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) - 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) - 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) - 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) - 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE3 - Cambridge English: First (FCE) with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
