Be ready to teach in two years
Do you have a passion to teach and work with adolescents and young adult learners to shape their learning and education? If you have a Bachelor degree in a field other than education, the Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary) will enable you to become a secondary school teacher, provided you meet all other entry requirements.
Within this program you will discover an in-depth understanding of secondary teaching in Queensland, with a masters level degree allowing you to graduate with a high level of employability.
Work with students in Years 7 to 12
A Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary) will equip you with the teaching methods, knowledge and confidence to work, inspire and educate adolescents and young adults. You will be highly employable in the state, Catholic or private school sectors.
Want the skills you acquire training to be a teacher but not necessarily keen to be in the classroom? Teaching-related skills of communication and educational management are also in demand in careers such as sport and leisure center management, personal training, life coaching and other professions in the human services.
Professional accreditation
Graduates of the Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary) are eligible to apply to the Queensland College of Teachers for registration.
In addition to completing all requirements for the degree, students need to pass the Personal Literacy and Numeracy Test (PLANTITE) prior to graduation. It's recommended that students pass the PLANTITE before the successful completion of 8 courses. Please register for the PLANTITE test through the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) website.
Career outcomes

Entry Requirement From Vietnam

Students must have Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline or bachelor degree in non-relevant discipline plus a USQ graduate certificate or USQ graduate certificate. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) - 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) - 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) - 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) - 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) - 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE3 - Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.


Entry Requirement For International Student

3-year bachelor degree or equivalent in a discipline other than education with a minimum GPA of 4.5 out of 7.0.
applicants must show how their prior studies meet these requirements by submitting a completed Teaching Area - Form G with their application
applicants for the Secondary specialization must demonstrate through their undergraduate degree or other equivalent studies, knowledge of two defined secondary school subject areas.
Other language requirement are the minimum score of TOEFL paper based test is 570, the minimum score of computer based test is 230, the minimum score of Pearson (PTE Academic) is 65 and the minimum score of Cambridge English: First (FCE) with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
