What will I learn?
A candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy shall undertake a program of study and research approved by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The program shall include the presentation of a thesis and/or other work approved by the Committee, embodying the results of the candidate's study and research, for examination.
A supervisor or supervisors shall be appointed with the approval of the University and subject to the general direction of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment, will provide direction and advice to the candidate.
Cyber Security
In the digital era where devices outnumbering humans has seen the growth in technology related crimes. Individual to businesses face serious threats from hackers, breaches and compliance issues. The cyber security research at Charles Darwin University is aiming to achieve fundamental advances in theory, design and management of techniques and models to ensure security in information systems and services. CDU works closely with Department of Corporate and Information Services, Northern Territory government in the space of policy and governance research.
There are opportunities for prospective new postgraduate students interested in research. Scholarships are available to cover the tuition fee and living expenses. The research projects and possible PhD by Research may include:
Australian cyber policy and standards
Technologies of cybersecurity
People, Process and Technology
Security and Privacy in IoT (Internet of Things)
Application security / Mobile apps security
Vulnerability assessment and exploitation of existing protocols

Entry Requirement From Vietnam

The minimum academic requirements for admission to a postgraduate or graduate entry degree is the completion of a bachelor's degree which is deemed equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree by the University's qualification assessment references. Applicants may also be required to satisfy specific course requirements such as a minimum overall grade score, prerequisite knowledge or work experience. Applicants must have successfully completed the equivalent of an Australian honours degree or master's degree. Other English language requirements accepted: Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) - A minimum overall score of 176 with no skill below 169 or Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module - A minimum overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50.


Entry Requirement For International Student

You must have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree with second class Honours division A, or an Australian Masters degree (with a substantial research component). Alternatively, you may have other qualifications and/or experience equivalent to these degrees.
Other English Language Requirements:
Australian Technology and Management College (ATMC) - Successful completion of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Students will be required to sit an exit test on completion and achieve a score equivalent to IELTS overall 6.5; Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) minimum overall score of 176 with no skill below 169; Common European Framework Certificate of English Proficiency minimum overall grade of C1 valid for three years from the date of the test to the date of commencement at CDU; Navitas Academic English - a minimum overall pass of 65% in Academic English 3 with a 65% pass in the research essay; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module minimum overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50.
