What will I learn?
This course is offered on a full fee paying basis to eligible domestic students. Fees are established per unit and can be found in the unit descriptions within the course schedule. The Graduate Certificate in Music is offered by the Conservatorium of Music at Hobart. It can be completed in a minimum of one semester full-time or a maximum of one year part-time.
The GradCertMus aims to provide a quality tertiary qualification at the postgraduate level in a professional coursework program. The program aims to provide students with high-level skills as performers or composers; and a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of repertoire and concepts
Students will be required to think professionally about their work and to plan for their own continuing development.
Students choose one of three streams, Performance, Composition, Musicology or Orchestral and complete a total weighting of 50% comprising one compulsory core unit (25%) and 1-2 electives (25%) according to the schedule for the selected stream.

PhDs normally require the equivalent to an Australian bachelor is degree with upper second class Honours or higher. English language requirements: IELTS of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 92 (26 in writing and speaking, and 20 for reading and listening); PTE Academic 58 (58 for writing and speaking with no other score lower than 50); UTAS Access Level 7 English Language Training - 65 (65 for writing and 65 for speaking and no other test score less than 60); CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) - B (Equivalent to the Council of Europe level (CEFR) of C1 or above).
For admission to this degree you need to have: completed an undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution, or at least three (3) years relevant work experience.
They must also satisfy the following English language requirements: TOEFL (PBT) 550 TWE 4.5; PTE Academic 50 with no score lower than 42; UTAS Access - English Level 6 - 60 per cent (no individual score less than 55 per cent); Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) - B Grade; Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) - C Grade; Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) Higher - C Grade.
