What will I learn?
The IS1 is the equivalent to the first year of your undergraduate degree. IS1 is designed to help you develop knowledge and understanding within your subject area, as well as your English Language and study skills, before you continue onto your chosen University of Dundee undergraduate degree. Studied across three terms, you will continue straight onto Year 2 of your degree programme once you have successfully completed your IS1. The Art & Design pathway at ICD allows international students to access a number of exciting and challenging undergraduate degrees at the renowned Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. Every IS1 has a number of core compulsory modules: English for Academic Purposes (EAP); Basic Mathematics and Digital Literacy; British Government and Society.
The Art & Design pathway at International College Dundee is a fantastic way to start your creative degree. It is a pathway to a number of undergraduate degrees at Dundee, including Fine Art and Product Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. As an Art & Design student at ICD, you will study modules designed to both increase your awareness of key concepts in art and design theory, and encourage you to expand your creative skills through studio practice. You will also study the foundations of psychology, expanding your awareness of human behaviour to inform your creative work in the future.
This course includes: Guaranteed continuation onto degree at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design when you successfully complete the IS1 Art & Design; Modules ranging from Psychology to Studio Practice; Small class sizes; Dedicated student support; Specialist teaching. Methods of assessment includes: Continuous assessment and feedback; Project work and testing. This course covers following modules: Cultural Context; Film, Media and Popular Culture; Introduction to Psychology; Studio Practice; Digital Media. On completion of this course, students could progress onto following degree options: LLB English Law; LLB English Law with Oil and Gas; BSc Applied Computing: Human Computer Interaction.

Students must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, to the required standard, from a recognized higher institution in Australian or the international equivalent and/or the equivalent professional work experience. English language requirements: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: Overall 6.5 (with 6.0 in Reading and Writing) obtained within the last two years, or a corresponding result via one of the alternative English language tests recognized by the University.
Students may be eligible to be considered for admission if you have:
Honours Level 1, Honours Level 2A (H2A), a Masters by Research or a Masters by coursework;
Honours Level 2B (H2B) or a Graduate Diploma, plus demonstrated capabilities as proven through evidence of professional work experience in the field of proposed study and by relevant quality publications;
a Bachelor Degree, Double Degree, Honours Level 3 (H3) or a Graduate Certificate, plus: demonstrated research capabilities as proven through evidence of professional work experience in the field of proposed study and by relevant quality publications; additional work experience and publications.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS score of 6.5 (with 6.0 in Reading and Writing); TOEFL iBT score of 79 with Reading and Writing not less than 18; TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) score of 577 with TWE of 4.5; Cambridge CAE/CPE score of 177; Pearson's test of English (Academic) (PTE) score of 58 with Reading and Writing communicative scores not less than 50; CELUSA score of AE5.
