Courses Overview

What will I learn?
The Master of Public Policy is offered at the Hobart campus and by distance. It is normally a 1 calendar year (or 3 semesters) full-time or up to 3 years (or 6 semesters) part-time program. Students may enrol for semester 1 or semester 2 entry. The MPubPol aims to provide a high quality tertiary qualification at the postgraduate level in a professional coursework-plus-thesis program. The course aims to provide students with:
a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of public policy;
skills to engage in informed debate about major public policy issues in contemporary society;
knowledge of recent developments in the field;
extensive skills to design, conduct and appraise research critically.
Career outcomes
Enhancement of students' careers by the achievement of a postgraduate award from a prestigious university.
The course is endorsed by, and has the support of, the Office of the State Service Commissioner.

Entry Requirement From Vietnam

PhDs normally require the equivalent to an Australian bachelor is degree with upper second class Honours or higher. English language requirements: IELTS of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 92 (26 in writing and speaking, and 20 for reading and listening); PTE Academic 58 (58 for writing and speaking with no other score lower than 50); UTAS Access Level 7 English Language Training - 65 (65 for writing and 65 for speaking and no other test score less than 60); CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) - B (Equivalent to the Council of Europe level (CEFR) of C1 or above).
