What will I learn?
The Diploma in Liberal Studies provides students from diverse backgrounds with a flexible one-year introduction to tertiary studies through the completion of 80cp of Arts units. Students completing the Diploma may choose their units from a wide range of Arts subjects.
Students may choose units from the following disciplines (subject to campus availability):
politics and international relations
study of religions
The Diploma in Liberal Studies prepares you for a wide choice of careers in areas such as government, industry, business, the creative arts and education.
A student who successfully completes four or more units in the Diploma in Liberal Studies may be awarded a Certificate in Liberal Studies.
The course assists students to prepare for a diverse range of careers in areas such as government, industry, journalism, creative arts and education.
Pathways to Further Study
Diploma in Liberal Studies graduates may be eligible to progress their studies in a Bachelor of Arts. Students must meet the ACU English Language Proficiency requirements as defined by the Admission rules to be eligible for consideration into a Bachelor level degree.

Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a college or university regarded as standard by a regional or general accrediting agency and have at least a B average (3.0/4.0 system) in relevant undergraduate course work or otherwise give evidence of promise that is judged satisfactory by the admitting program and the Graduate School. Other English Language Requirements accepted: A minimum score of 520 on TOEFL (paper-based) and a minimum computer-based score of 190; Pearson Test of English(PTE) with an overall score of 47.
Applicants must have completed year 12 or equivalent.
Other English language requirements:
Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 54 with a minimum of 50 in writing and speaking and a minimum of 42 in reading and listening; Internet based TOEFL total score of 79: 78: minimum 21 in writing, 18 in speaking, 12 in reading and 11 in listening; ACU English Language Test score of C (60-64%).
