Department structure

At CQUniversity Australia, there are five academic schools which offer both tertiary and vocational education courses.
School of Business and Law: Students can choose from a range of accredited courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The courses have been designed after consultation with industry experts to prepare graduates to be job ready.
School of Education and Arts: Some of the areas the School offers courses in include Humanities, Hospitality, Art and Education. Many courses offer work experience and are tailored for work integrated learning. Teachers work closely with the industry and are experts in their fields.
School of Engineering and Technology: The School has a wide variety of study options and is a rapidly growing one with a current student strength of 5,000. Its courses strongly emphasise industry relevance and train graduates to be work-ready.
School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences: With career-oriented courses and dedicated staff, students work with teachers with wide expertise in the industry on leading research projects. Students have access to a range of career pathways in areas such as safety science, accident forensics and psychology. Graduates develop marketable and transferable career skills having gained skills from working in modern facilities and field sites.
School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Sciences: The School is a leader in the Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Social Work programmes. Students can benefit from Mask Ed, a simulation technique that provides cutting-edge practical experience. They can also gain exposure from the travel to Nepal, India and Cambodia through the Short-term Mobility programme. 

Entry requirements

Entry requirements vary among courses. To apply for entry to CQUniversity Australia courses, applicants must satisfy academic requirements and English language requirements.
Academic requirements
Certificates: Successful completion of Australian Year 10 or equivalent.
Diplomas: Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent; or completion of Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate IV or equivalent.
Undergraduate courses: Successful completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 12. An approved university foundation studies or formal Australian Certificate IV is acceptable. Successful completion a certificate, diploma or advanced diploma (or equivalent) for advanced standing to desired course.
Postgraduate courses: Completion of a bachelor is degree with the equivalent to an Australian pass grade average in the final two terms, from a recognised higher education institution.
Postgraduate research: Applicants must provide supporting documents and apply via iStart with an Expression of Interest.
Country specific requirements apply for certificates and diplomas, and undergraduate courses.
English Language requirements
English tests: CQUniversity Australia recognises a number of English tests which can be taken to meet English language requirements. The following are IELTS and TOEFL scores required for most courses.
IELTS
Certificate or Diploma - 5.5 (with no individual band score of less than 5.0)
Undergraduate or Postgraduate coursework - 6.0 (with no individual band score of less than 5.5)
Postgraduate research - 6.5 (with no individual band score less than 6.0)
TOEFL
Certificate or Diploma - Overall score of 65 with no score less than 15
Undergraduate or Postgraduate coursework - Overall score of 75 with no score less than 17
Postgraduate coursework - Overall score of 79 with no score less than 21

Libraries

Overview

Central Queensland University (CQUniversity) is one of the largest universities in Australia, and has campuses in Queensland, Sydney and Perth. CQUniversity Australia is also one of Queensland's first dual sector universities, offering over 300 courses including training programmes, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and apprenticeships. It is in the top two percent of universities worldwide.
CQUniversity Australia offers a wide range of careers support for students, and 80.4% of graduates go on to find work within three months of leaving the institution, which is 10 percent higher than the national average. The University is also known as being one of the top for graduate starting salaries. Careers help on offer includes information on sourcing an internship, how to write a CV and cover letter, and how to stand out in an interview.
As well as learning on campus full-time, students have the option of studying completely via distance education.
During their spare time, students are encouraged to meet new people, learn a new skill and pursue their existing interests by joining a club or society. These include everything from dance class to photography and sports teams, and there is also the option for them to start their own group.
Students can also give back to others by taking part in voluntary work, or becoming a mentor. Student services on offer, meanwhile, include counselling, learning support, a dedicated disability service and a student mentor programme to help new students to settle in.

Scholarships & funding

Students at CQUniversity Australia have access to a range of scholarships and funding. The University spends approximately AUD 2.5 million each year on these scholarships to support international students.
The International Student Scholarship is available to all future undergraduate and postgraduate international students at any CQUniversity Australia campus. The recently launched International Student Scholarship - Regional similarly rewards successful applicants studying in the regional CQUniversity Australia campuses. The scholarship rewards successful applicants with a 20% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of their studies, provided all terms and conditions are met.
The scholarship is merit based and the application is assessed based on previous academic results and must meet minimum selection criteria. Applicants from countries not listed will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Apart from this, a number of Australian government scholarships are available to international students.

CQUniversity Australia also has a Learning and Teaching Framework to support quality teaching and learning. There is a Learning and Teaching Services (LTS) network available to staff that provides resources to ensure that staff are up-to-date in their information and training.
 

What's new

Selected to present at WHO conference
CQUni undergrads were the only two to have been chosen to present at the 12th Biennial Conference of the Global Network of WHO collaborating centres for Nursing and Midwifery. Second year student, Shanda Clark, and first year student, Rhianna Wood, from Bachelor of Nursing presented at the WHO conference with a Universal Health Care theme.
Shanda Clark presented a poster at the conference about her journey to university from a lower socioeconomic background. Rhianna Wood spoke about her visit to Philippines where she taught English to troubled youth and at a preschool. Both students are from Townsville and have been studying their degrees via distance education. 
Partners with Ohio State University
CQUniversity Australia graduates will have job opportunities in the agri-tech sector, due to its growing partnership with The Ohio State University. Both universities are working on an agreement to support joint research projects for enhancing animal production and improving water quality. The research goals also include working on reducing soil erosion in America is Great Lakes and Australia is Great Barrier Reef.
CQUni Associate Professor in Precision Livestock, Mark Trotter says, "We are already drawing on skillsets from Ohio State in advanced statistical analysis and implementation of farm technology.
