The University of Tasmania was officially founded on 1st January 1890 and is located at Sandy Bay, Tasmania. In addition to the main campus at Sandy Bay, it also operates out of the Newnham Campus and the Cradle Coast Campus. The most popular courses offered are the environmental studies that include wilderness management, marine sciences and indigenous studies in Tasmanian literature. Other unconventional courses include agriculture development, studies on the community and population and ocean study programs. The university also comprises of a Music Conservatorium, Art school and a School of Clinical studies.

Access, Participation and Partnerships Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS)
25 per cent reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the FSP course.
Available to all commencing international students who submit an application to study the Foundation Studies Program leading to an undergraduate degree at the University of Tasmania. Applicants are automatically assessed for this scholarship. Selection for this scholarship will be based on sound achievement in previous secondary level courses with a minimum overall 'Distinction' average or equivalent for academic subjects undertaken within secondary school or equiv.
Applicants will be notified in their Offer if they have been successful in being awarded a TIS scholarship which will include a scholarship offer outlining the conditions that apply to the TIS award. Important: Applicants must accept their offer within 3 weeks from the date of issue in order to retain their scholarship. Students should read the conditions of their scholarship carefully. Please note that this scholarship is only available to commencing students. Current students will not be reassessed on the basis on their academic progress at UTAS.
Examination results are reviewed each semester by the Scholarships Selection Committee to determine ongoing eligibility. Recipients who do not meet ongoing eligibility will be notified by email. Recipients must achieve a minimum overall Distinction level in the first semester of FSP to be eligible to receive the scholarship in their second semester.
TIS recipients will be reassessed for ongoing eligibility into their chosen degree based on their cumulative end of year FSP results. Students that have achieved the required CGPA (cumulative grade point average) will be offered a TIS by the faculty with which they have an Offer of Enrolment and will be notified by email of their eligibility.
Recipients who are not successful in being awarded a TIS for their degree studies, will still be entitled to the FSP to degree 10% discount.
As students are assessed automatically upon submission of their International Student Online Application, there is no need to apply separately, nor do recipients need to apply for ongoing eligibility.
Foundation Studies Program to Degree Discount
10 per cent reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course.
This discount provides international students who have completed the University's Foundation Studies Program (FSP) with a 10% discount on the registered tuition fees for enrolment in their undergraduate coursework program. The discount is available for all undergraduate programs (including an Honours program if applicable). Please note that if a student has already been offered a Tasmanian International Scholarship, Kumar Sangakkara Scholarship or Sibling Discount, this FSP to Degree discount will not apply.
Please note that this discount will not apply to students who after completing FSP, chose to study at another institution and then return to UTAS at a later time.
Students applying for a FSP to degree package at UTAS will automatically be in receipt of the FSP to Degree Discount upon submission of their International Student Online Application. This discount will come into effect for the undergraduate program.
International Postgraduate Discount
10 per cent reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course.
This discount provides international students who have completed an undergraduate program at the University of Tasmania with a 10% discount on the registered tuition fees for enrolment in a postgraduate coursework program. The discount is available for all postgraduate coursework programs. Please note that if a student has already been offered a Tasmanian International Scholarship or the Family Alumni Bursary the International Postgraduate Discount will not apply.
University of Tasmania graduates applying for a postgraduate coursework program at UTAS will automatically be in receipt of the International Postgraduate Discount upon submission of their International Student Online Application.
