General Entry Requirements
Admission standards are high, often requiring strong academic credentials and language skills.
- Undergraduate: A high school diploma recognized by Swiss universities is required. Some institutions or programs may require an entrance examination.
- Postgraduate: A bachelor's degree from a recognized university in a relevant field.
- Language: Proficiency in the language of instruction (English, German, French, or Italian) is mandatory.
Living & Tuition Costs
While public university tuition is low, the cost of living in Switzerland is among the highest in the world.
- Average Tuition Fees: Public universities are affordable (CHF 1,000 - CHF 4,000/year). Private institutions, especially in hospitality, are significantly more expensive.
- Estimated Living Costs: Expect to budget CHF 20,000 - CHF 30,000 per year to cover accommodation, food, insurance, and transport.
Work Rights for Students
International students may work up to 15 hours per week during the semester, but only after having lived in Switzerland for six months. During vacation periods, students can work full-time.
