New Zealand International Student Experience Survey Results 2021 

ENZ released the International Student Experience Survey 2021 in December last year. The NielsenIQ survey canvassed 4,536 students in New Zealand and 282 students studying offshore with a New Zealand provider. The survey aims to better understand the overall experience of international students, what is being done well and what can be improved.

Headline results

  • International students say their experience of education in Aotearoa New Zealand has been generally positive despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. 85% of those studying in New Zealand this year rated their overall experience as positive, with 81% likely to recommend New Zealand as a study destination.
  • The top five factors in students’ decisions to study in New Zealand were: the right to work in New Zealand once their studies were complete, our welcoming and inclusive society, our reputation as a safe country, our natural environment and the international recognition of New Zealand qualifications.
