The international education sector is important to Australia. The Australian Government remains committed to the continuous improvement of the quality and integrity of the system, in support of the best possible international student experience and outcomes.
The proposed arrangements set out in the Education Services for Overseas Students Amendment (Quality and Integrity) Bill 2024 (the ESOS Bill) included a new National Planning Level (NPL) student caps system. However, this Bill has not passed Parliament in time for arrangements to be implemented by 1 January 2025.
